Lyon's placement on the IR list won't impact his timeline for a return. He won't be an option for Tuesday's road game against Boston and Thursday's road matchup versus Ottawa. Lyon has a 4-4-0 record, 2.74 GAA and .911 save percentage in nine appearances this campaign. The plan was to have him serve as Cam Talbot's understudy for Wednesday's game against Calgary, but the Red Wings will instead promote Ville Husso from the minors so he can dress as the backup goaltender.

It's the first win for the veteran netminder since Oct. 22 after a lower-body injury cost him time in early November, and on the season Lyon is 3-4-0 over eight appearances with a 2.84 GAA and .908 save percentage.

Lyon gave up a goal in each of the first two periods and three more in the third as the Ducks pulled off a comeback. Lyon (lower body) is expected to start on the road against Anaheim on Friday, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
Lyon last played between the pipes Oct. 30, when he stopped 23 of 29 shots en route to a 6-2 loss to Winnipeg. Anaheim figures to be a far easier adversary -- the 5-8-2 Ducks rank 32nd offensively with just 2.20 goals per game. Lyon was expected to be available at some point during the Red Wings' road trip through California. The Jets grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first period and never trailed in the game, saddling Lyon with his second straight loss and third of the season. The veteran goalie saw a heavy workload early but appears to have fallen back into a timeshare with Cam Talbot -- and he may not be done falling, having allowed 10 goals on 47 shots over his last two starts. The 31-year-old netminder has started three of the last four games for Detroit, but Lyon gave up more than three goals Saturday for the first time this season. He had little chance on any of them, and the game-winner came on a Bowen Byram point shot that Lyon stopped, only for the rebound to deflect in off the back of Jeff Petry's leg. Lyon has a 2-2-0 record, 2.05 GAA and .940 save percentage through five appearances, and for now he appears to have a slight edge over Cam Talbot for playing time in the Wings' crease.

It was Lyon's first shutout this season and the fourth of his NHL career. The Islanders had their feet on the gas most of the game, but Lyon adroitly turned them away, wave by wave. He is 2-1-0 on the season with a 1.46 GAA and a .955 save percentage. Right now, Lyon is rising to the occasion and winning, so consider him an option for your blue paint whenever he's in there.
