Analysis

Arkansas and Vanderbilt meet in the SEC Championship game, and I think it's going to be a high-scoring game. I like this game over the total of 166.5, considering seven of their last eight meetings have gone over. Arkansas has won the last three meetings, scoring 90 points or more in all of them. Arkansas wants to run fast all the time, but so does Vanderbilt. The Commodores have gone over in five of their last six games, including shutting the Gators down in their last game. Arkansas plays at a fast pace but shoots a smart 50% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range. Over is the play.

Analysis

As well as Dayton has played of late, including its stunning last second upset of the top seed St. Louis, VCU is quite simply the much better team here in the Atlantic 10 final. The Rams are rated 31 spots higher in KenPom and boast wins of 26 and 6 points over the Flyers this season. I think they win on Sunday by close to double-digits and get themselves an automatic NCAA Tournament berth in the process.

Penn customarily plays faster but slowed it down in Saturday's Ivy League semifinals and won 62-60 in overtime. Expect a repeat approach against favored Yale. The Bulldogs score at a decent rate but usually take their sweet time, with a 305th ranking for possessions per game. Bulldogs encounters wth Ivy opponents generated 142 ppg, about the same as this total. Wth an NCAA berth at stake and both sides exercising as much patience as -- if not more than -- usual, that number likely will not be reached.

Ethan Roberts (16.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg) is out due to a concussion, which makes Penn's task a lot tougher. Without him, the Quakers struggled offensively but squeaked past Harvard in the semifinals. Now they take on a Yale team that swept them in the regular season, with Roberts on the floor. Roberts scored 12 points in each of the regular-season matchups with Yale, and his presence opened things up for other Penn players. Without him, Yale should win by double digits.

With Cal Baptist's patient offense, this total seems slightly inflated. The Lancers rank toward the bottom of Dvision 1 at 210th for possessons per game, and the defense is the stingiest in the WAC. One of the finalists' regular season meetings has a misleading score because it went to overtime; in regulation, 130 points were tallied, which followed a 139-point matchup in the other game. As quickly as Utalh Valley plays, the Wolverines' semifinal game Friday wound up wth 132 points. The rubber match should stay south of 140.
