Knicks' Cameron Payne: Won't play Monday
Payne (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's matchup against the Rockets, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
Payne has been downgraded from doubtful to out Monday due to a strained left hamstring. The 30-year-old has averaged 5.6 points, 3.2 assists and 2.0 rebounds across 15.4 minutes in five regular-season outings. In Payne's absence, Tyler Kolek and Pacome Dadiet are candidates for a slight increase in minutes off the bench alongside Miles McBride.

Knicks' Matt Ryan: Signs deal with Knicks
Ryan agreed to a contract with the Knicks on Monday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Ryan was recently selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 G League Draft by the Knicks' affiliate in Westchester, but he'll get moved up to the parent club to fill the 14th spot on the 15-man roster. A career 41.1 percent shooter from beyond the arc over parts of three seasons in the NBA, Ryan will provide the Knicks with additional floor spacing, but he's not guaranteed to be regularly featured in head coach Tom Thibodeau's rotation.

Knicks' Ariel Hukporti: Upgraded to two-year contract
The Knicks converted Hukporti from a two-way contract to a two-year standard NBA contract Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. The second year of the contract is a team option.
The No. 58 overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, Hukporti has appeared in four of the Knicks' first five games of the season, missing his lone field-goal attempt while pulling down seven rebounds and blocking four shots across 29 total minutes. The Knicks had opened the campaign with only 12 players on the 15-man roster, but because league rules require teams to have at least 14 players on standard contracts for no more than 28 days during a season, Hukporti was upgraded from his two-way deal to help fulfill the roster requirement. While the fact that he's been moved off a two-way deal means he won't be restricted to the amount of games in which he can be active for the Knicks, Hukporti still looks to be on the outside looking in for a rotation spot, even while fellow big men Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Precious Achiuwa (hamstring) remain sidelined. Jericho Sims appears to have at least temporarily settled in as the Knicks' preferred backup center behind Karl-Anthony Towns.

Knicks' Cameron Payne: Doubtful for Monday
Payne is doubtful for Monday's game against the Rockets due to a strained left hamstring, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
Payne is unlikely to suit up Monday, though it shouldn't cause too many waves in the Knicks' rotation, as he has averaged 11.3 minutes per game over his last three outings. If the 30-year-old doesn't suit up Monday, Tyler Kolek and Pacome Dadiet are candidates for a slight increase in minutes off the bench alongside Miles McBride.

Knicks' Josh Hart: Near double-double vs. Pistons
Hart had 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt), nine rebounds, four assists and two steals over 37 minutes during Friday's 128-98 win over the Pistons.
Hart was the Knicks' second-leading rebounder Friday behind Karl-Anthony Towns (11), and the former was one board shy of logging his fourth consecutive double-double. Through the first five games of the 2024-25 campaign, Hart is averaging 14.2 points on 55.3 percent shooting, 10.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals over 35.6 minutes per game.

Knicks' Mikal Bridges: Three swipes vs. Detroit
Bridges supplied 15 points (6-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals over 35 minutes during Friday's 128-98 win over the Pistons.
Bridges took a back seat to Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns in the scoring category Friday, but Bridges showed off his defensive chops with a team-leading three steals. Bridges has logged two or more steals in each of his last three outings, and for the season he's averaging 17.6 points on 52.2 percent shooting, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals over 36.6 minutes per game.

Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Well-rounded effort vs. Detroit
Towns supplied 21 points (8-18 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals in 27 minutes during Friday's 128-98 win over the Pistons.
Towns was listed as questionable for Friday's game due to a left wrist sprain. He was able to play through the injury and led the Knicks in rebounding and assists while finishing tied with OG Anunoby for second in scoring behind Jalen Brunson (36). Towns is averaging just 3.4 three-point attempts per game to start the regular season, but he's shooting 64.7 percent from deep. That won't be sustainable, but Towns brings plenty of fantasy value in scoring -- particularly from three -- and rebounding.

Knicks' OG Anunoby: Records season-high 21 points
Anunoby registered 21 points (8-15 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, six assists and two steals over 33 minutes during Friday's 128-98 win over Detroit.
With Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges on the roster, Anunoby isn't typically asked to score in bunches. However, Anunoby's efficient shooting helped him record a season-high 21 points in Friday's blowout win. Across his first five appearances this season, the 27-year-old forward is averaging 13.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 35.0 minutes.

Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Scores season-high 36 points
Brunson finished with 36 points (14-22 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT), one rebound, five assists and two steals across 31 minutes during Friday's 128-98 victory over the Pistons.
Brunson scored a season-high 36 points, besting his previous mark of 26 which he set against Indiana on Oct. 25. Given the standard he set last season, it hasn't been a perfect start for Brunson and the new-look Knicks, but they were certainly on their game Friday night, albeit against an inferior opponent. Brunson scored at least 30 points 43 times last year, including the postseason.

Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Good for Friday in Motor City
Towns (wrist) is available and starting in Friday's game against the Pistons, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
Towns appeared to sprain his left wrist while dropping a 44-point double-double in Wednesday's win over Miami, though he is expected to handle his normal workload Friday. The big man has averaged 22.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals-plus-blocks across 31.8 minutes per game in four regular-season outings with his new club.

Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Expected to play Friday
Coach Tom Thibodeau said Towns (wrist) will warm up with the intention of playing in Friday's game versus the Pistons, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
Towns is officially listed as questionable due to a left wrist sprain but appears likely to suit up Friday. If he is officially upgraded to available, there is no indication that Towns will be on a minutes restriction.

Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Iffy against Detroit
Towns is listed as questionable for Friday's game versus the Pistons due to a sprained left wrist.
Despite scoring 44 points, Towns appears to have sprained his wrist against Miami on Wednesday. If Towns is ruled out against Detroit, Jericho Sims will likely see increased playing time.

Knicks' Cameron Payne: Fails to score against Miami
Payne finished with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt), one rebound, five assists, one block and one steal across 12 minutes during Wednesday's 116-107 win over the Heat.
Despite not scoring, Payne led all bench players with five assists in Wednesday's win. Payne has carved out a backup point guard role behind Jalen Brunson, averaging 6.0 points, 3.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 16.3 minutes across four appearances.

Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Sniffs double-double
Brunson had 22 points (6-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 7-8 FT), two rebounds and nine assists in 36 minutes during Wednesday's 116-107 victory over the Heat.
Brunson struggled with his shot Wednesday, but he thrived in the playmaking role while Karl-Anthony Towns carried New York's offense with a season-high 44-point effort. Brunson has been slumping with his shot over his last two games, shooting a combined 14-for-42 in that span, but that shouldn't worry fantasy managers. The star guard should bounce back sooner rather than later, although a slight decrease in his scoring figures to allow Towns to become the No. 1 option on offense might be due to happen.

Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Explodes for 44 points Wednesday
Towns amassed 44 points (17-25 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 13 rebounds and two assists in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 116-107 victory over Miami.
Towns had his best game since joining the Knicks, and the star big man was the main reason why New York came through with the victory here. Towns has opened his Knicks tenure with three double-doubles in four games, and he figures to continue playing a dominant role on offense alongside Jalen Brunson.
