Thompson (upper body) is expected to "miss a little bit of time," Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports Friday. Thompson is currently mired in a three-game losing streak during which he has posted a 5.58 GAA, .780 save percentage and 0-2-1 record. Since Thompson will be sidelined in the short term, the Caps recalled Hunter Shepard from the minors while Charlie Lindgren sees the bulk of the workload.... See More ... See Less

Capitals' Logan Thompson: Hurt in Wednesday's game
Thompson (upper body) is doubtful to return to Wednesday's game versus the Hurricanes. Thompson was tagged for three goals on 12 shots in the first period before exiting the contest. It's possible the Capitals are taking a cautious approach here since they entered Wednesday 11 points clear of every other team in the Eastern Conference. More information on Thompson's status should be known prior to Friday's game versus the Blackhawks. Charlie Lindgren took over in goal and will likely see a starter's workload should Thompson miss additional time.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Poised to start Wednesday
Thompson is slated to guard the cage on the road against Carolina on Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports. Thompson will be looking to rebound from his previous tilt in which he gave up seven goals on 22 shots (.682 save percentage) in a defeat to the Sabres. That disastrous outing notwithstanding, it's been a solid year for Thompson, as he has set new personal bests in wins (31) and GAA (2.43) -- though he continues to split the workload with Charlie Lindgren.... Capitals' Logan Thompson: Surrenders seven goals Sunday
Thompson saved 15 of 22 shots on net in Sunday's 8-5 loss to the Sabres. Sunday's performance is one that Thompson will quickly want to put behind him ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the Sabres put the puck past him three times in both the second and third periods. With the loss, the 28-year-old netminder has a 31-5-6 record with a 2.43 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 42 appearances this season. Sunday's performance was only Thompson's second regulation loss in March. He remains a top option in all fantasy formats when he plays. As the Capitals move closer to locking up the top seed in the Eastern Conference, however, Thompson might see additional games of rest before the postseason. Because of this, it is best to have additional netminders in fantasy to deploy on Thompson's off days.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Set to face Winnipeg
Thompson will be between the pipes Tuesday in Winnipeg, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports. Thompson is rolling of late with six straight wins and a 2.47 GAA and a .909 save percentage during that stretch. The 28-year-old has a tough road assignment Tuesday against a Winnipeg squad that has generated 3.45 goals per game this season, which ranks third in the NHL. Thompson conceded five goals in an overtime loss to the Jets on Feb. 1. He's 3-1-1 over six career appearances versus Winnipeg.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Strong performance in win
Thompson made 33 saves on 36 shots in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Panthers. After allowing three goals in a shaky first period, Thompson stood firm to tend a clean game the rest of the way. The 28-year-old netminder is up to an impressive 31-4-5 record with a 2.30 GAA and a .917 save percentage. With Saturday's win, Thompson extended his winning streak to six games. He is a top-tier fantasy option between the pipes and should be started with full confidence in all leagues with his win over the defending champions being proof that he is on top of his game. His next opportunity to guard the crease is Tuesday against the Jets.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Expected to face Florida
Thompson is set to start at home against Florida on Saturday, according to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com. Thompson is 30-4-5 with a 2.29 GAA and a .917 save percentage in 39 outings in 2024-25. He's won his past five starts while saving 117 of 129 shots (.907 save percentage). Florida ranks 10th in goals per game with 3.16.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Name in record books with win
Thompson made 23 saves in a 4-1 win over Detroit on Tuesday. With the win, Thompson moved into some pretty elite territory. He is 30-4-5, and that matches the fewest regulation losses by a goalie in NHL history at the time of his 30th win. That's been done only three times, and just once in modern history. Tiny Thompson (1929-30), Bill Durnan (1943-44) and Linus Ullmark (2022-23) are the only other netminders to achieve that feat.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Exits ice first
Thompson was the first goalie off the ice Tuesday and will be between the pipes at home versus the Red Wings, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Thompson will make consecutive starts for the first time since March 1 and 3. In his last three outings, the 28-year-old netminder went 3-0-0 despite an .897 save percentage. Even with Thompson going again Tuesday, fantasy players should continue to see plenty of Charlie Lindgren down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Tending twine Saturday
Thompson will guard the road goal agains San Jose on Saturday, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com. Thompson has stopped 75 of 85 shots during his three-game winning streak. He has a 28-4-5 record with two shutouts, a 2.36 GAA and a .916 save percentage through 37 appearances this season. San Jose sits 30th in the league with 2.63 goals per game in 2024-25.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Allows four goals in win
Thompson stopped 25 of 29 shots in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Ducks. The teams traded goals at a high rate in the first and third periods, and the Capitals came away with just enough more on offense to give Thompson his third straight win. He's allowed 10 goals in that span, and he's given up three or more tallies in seven of his nine outings since the start of February. That slip in performance hasn't hurt his record (28-4-5), but his GAA is up to 2.36 with a .916 save percentage over 37 appearances. The Capitals will likely continue alternating starts between Thompson and Charlie Lindgren -- look for Lindgren to play Thursday against the Kings while Thompson is tentatively on track for a Saturday matinee start in San Jose.... Capitals' Logan Thompson: Guarding goal Tuesday
Thompson will defend the road net against Anaheim on Tuesday, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post. Thompson has won his last two outings while stopping 50 of 56 shots. He has a 27-4-5 record with two shutouts, a 2.31 GAA and a .917 save percentage through 36 appearances this season. Anaheim is tied for 29th in the league with 2.63 goals per game in 2024-25.... Capitals' Logan Thompson: Tending twine Friday
Thompson will patrol the home crease versus Detroit on Friday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Thompson is having a fabulous season as he is 26-4-5 with a pair of shutouts, a 2.32 GAA and a .918 save percentage. Thompson has struggled of late, going 1-2-0 in his last three starts, allowing nine goals on 80 shots (.887 save percentage). The Red Wings are a tired team, coming off a 4-2 home loss to Utah on Thursday. Detroit is generating 2.84 goals per game, 19th in the NHL.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Hangs on for shootout win
Thompson turned aside 33 shots in regulation and overtime and all three shootout attempts he faced in Monday's 5-4 win over the Senators. The Caps grabbed a 3-0 lead early in the second period, but Thompson had to withstand a comeback by the Sens in the third period just to get the game to OT. The 28-year-old netminder came up big in the shootout though, shutting down Drake Batherson, Tim Stutzle and Claude Giroux to secure the victory. Thompson has seen the bulk of the work in the Washington crease since the beginning of February, starting seven of 10 games, but his 3-2-2 record, 3.39 GAA and .881 save percentage over that stretch would seem to indicate the door is open for Charlie Lindgren to push his way back into a timeshare.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Defending crease Monday
Thompson will protect the home net against Ottawa on Monday, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports. Thompson has lost his last two outings, surrendering five goals on 43 shots. He has a 25-4-5 record with two shutouts, a 2.27 GAA and a .919 save percentage through 34 appearances this season. Ottawa is tied for 22nd in the league with 2.80 goals per game in 2024-25.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Facing Lightning
Thompson will defend the home crease versus Tampa Bay on Saturday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports. Thompson was saddled with a rare loss in his last outing, giving up three goals on 25 shots in a 3-1 loss to Calgary on Tuesday. The loss gave Thompson a 25-3-5 record with a 2.28 GAA and a .919 save percentage across 33 starts this season. The Lightning are generating 3.57 goals per game, second in the NHL this season.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Tending twine Tuesday
Thompson will defend the home cage against the Flames on Tuesday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Thompson has been seeing a heavy workload since the start of February, playing two of every three games for the Caps. If that trend continues, the 28-year-old netminder figures to be back in the crease against the Blues at home Thursday before Charlie Lindgren gets the nod at home versus Tampa Bay on Saturday. For his part, Thompson is undefeated in regulation since Dec. 17 versus the Blackhawks, going 13-0-3 over his last 16 starts while registering a 2.02 GAA and two shutouts.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Starting in Pittsburgh
Thompson will guard the road net Saturday against the Penguins, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports. Thompson will be back between the pipes after dropping two of his last three starts (both in overtime) prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off break. Overall, Thompson is an impressive 24-2-5 with a .921 save percentage and a 2.23 GAA in his first season with the Caps.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Drops result in shootout
Thompson allowed four goals on 27 shots in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to Utah. Thompson still hasn't lost in regulation since Dec. 17 -- he's 12-0-3 over his last 15 games. Sunday was just the fifth time in that span he's allowed three or more goals, though he was strong when needed in the third period to help the Capitals snag a standings point. Thompson enters the 4 Nations Face-Off break at 24-2-5 with a 2.23 GAA and a .921 save percentage over 31 games. Despite his strong play, he was left off of Team Canada's roster, so the 27-year-old netminder will have two weeks to rest before a Feb. 22 game in Pittsburgh.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Starting against Florida
Thompson will draw the home start Tuesday versus the Panthers, according to Sammi Silber of The Hockey News. Thompson conceded five goals in a game for just the second time this season in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to Winnipeg. Thompson has a 2-1-0 record, 2.67 GAA and .914 save percentage in three career appearances against the Panthers. Florida is coming off a 6-3 win over the Islanders on Sunday.... See More ... See Less
