Top Blackhawks News

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: On wrong side of shutout

Knight stopped 28 of 32 shots in Saturday's 4-0 loss to Vegas.

Three of the goals against came in a span of 3:27 in the middle of the first period. Knight has lost five of his last six outings, but this was the first time he allowed four goals since Jan. 25 versus the Panthers. Knight is now at a 17-19-8 record with a 2.64 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 44 starts in his first year as a full-time starter. The Blackhawks' schedule doesn't get easier next week, as they have a home-and-home with the Wild before facing the Avalanche on the second half of a back-to-back, which makes Knight a risky fantasy option in the short term.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Slated to start Saturday

Knight is projected to tend the road goal versus the Golden Knights on Saturday, Vinnie Parise of The Hockey News reports.

Knight returned from a three-game absence and earned a 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth on Thursday. He's now set to wrap up the Blackhawks' short road trip with a tough matchup in Vegas. The Golden Knights have scored 17 goals over their last six games, though they have just two wins in that span.

  • Blackhawks' Wyatt Kaiser: Unavailable Saturday

Kaiser (shoulder) won't play against Vegas on Saturday, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Kaiser left Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah late and participated in Saturday's morning skate, but he will miss at least one game. However, it sounds like he could return to the lineup against Minnesota on Tuesday. Kaiser has five goals, 12 points, 60 shots on net, 53 blocked shots and 37 hits in 61 appearances this season.

  • Blackhawks' Anton Frondell: Hits high mark for 18-year-old

Frondell scored his 20th goal of the season in Djurgardens' 3-2 loss to Skelleftea in the SHL on Saturday.

Per Scott Powers of The Athletic, Frondell is the first 18-year-old to hit the 20-goal mark in Sweden's top league since Daniel Sedin did it in 1998-99. That's elite company for Frondell, who ends the regular season with 20 goals and eight assists in 43 appearances. Given that level of production, Frondell looks ready to take his game to North America in 2026-27.

The 24-year-old improved to 17-18-8 with a 2.61 GAA and a .909 save percentage through 43 appearances this season. Now that he's healthy, Knight is likely to handle a majority of the starts for the Blackhawks. They wrap up this brief road trip in Vegas on Saturday.

Kaiser (upper body) left Thursday's game versus the Mammoth late in the third period, and his status for Saturday versus the Golden Knights is up in the air, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
