Sogaard was reassigned to AHL Belleville on Thursday, per the NHL media site. Over his two NHL appearances this season, Sogaard went 1-1-0 with a 5.22 GAA and .800 save percentage, most recently giving up four goals on 23 shots (.826 save percentage) in a 4-2 loss in Winnipeg on Dec. 28. The Senators activated Anton Forsberg (undisclosed) from injured reserve in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less

Senators' Mads Sogaard: Downed by Jets
Sogaard stopped 19 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Winnipeg. Ottawa jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but Sogaard couldn't keep the home squad grounded after that. The 24-year-old netminder was making his first NHL start this season with Linus Ullmark (back) unavailable and Anton Forsberg (lower body) on IR, so Leevi Merilainen will likely get the start Sunday in Minnesota.... Senators' Mads Sogaard: Tending twine Saturday
Sogaard was the first goaltender off the ice during the morning skate and is slated to patrol the visiting blue paint in Winnipeg on Saturday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Sogaard is 1-0-0 this season, despite allowing four goals on 17 shots in relief of Anton Forsberg on Oct. 14 versus the Kings, as the Senators held on for an 8-7 victory. Sogaard has played sparingly this season with six appearances in the AHL. He will face the Jets, who are averaging 3.69 goals per game in 2024-25.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Promoted from AHL
The Senators recalled Sogaard from AHL Belleville on Friday. The Senators are shy a couple of netminders as Linus Ullmark (back) and Anton Forsberg (undisclosed) are currently on the sidelines. Ottawa also recalled netminder Leevi Merilainen on Friday to give the team a pair of healthy goaltenders, if needed versus Winnipeg on Saturday. Sogaard was 0-3-1 with a 3.24 GAA and an .877 save percentage across six appearances with Belleville before his recall.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Promoted from minors
Sogaard was brought up from AHL Belleville on Wednesday. Sogaard's promotion doesn't bode well for the availability of fellow netminder Linus Ullmark (strain) ahead of Thursday's meeting with the Devils. Unfortunately for the 23-year-old Sogaard, there aren't any back-to-backs on Ottawa's immediate schedule, which likely means this stint in the NHL will be as a backup to Anton Forsberg.... Senators' Mads Sogaard: Called up Monday
Sogaard was elevated from AHL Belleville on Monday under emergency conditions. Sogaard's promotion certainly raises concerns that Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) won't be ready to suit up for Monday's game versus the Kings. Even with Sogaard joining the NHL roster, he's unlikely to feature between the pipes for the Senators, as Anton Forsberg would likely get the starting nod if Ullmark can't give it a go.... Senators' Mads Sogaard: Slated to start Sunday
Sogaard is expected to start Sunday's road preseason contest versus Toronto, per TSN 1200 Ottawa. Sogaard posted a 1-3-0 record with a 4.05 GAA and an .859 save percentage in six regular-season outings with Ottawa in 2023-24. He will probably begin the 2024-25 campaign in the minors. Dustin Tokarski, a training camp invitee on a professional tryout agreement, will be the backup for Sunday's contest.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Signs two-year deal
Sogaard signed a two-year, $1.55 million contract with Ottawa on Monday. Sogaard posted an 18-9-3 record with two shutouts, a 2.45 GAA and a .916 save percentage in 32 regular-season outings for AHL Belleville in 2023-24. The 23-year-old netminder also went 1-3-0 with a 4.04 GAA and an .859 save percentage in six NHL appearances with Ottawa last season. Sogaard will likely begin the upcoming season in the minors, as Linus Ullmark and Anton Forsberg are expected to open the year as the Senators' NHL goalies.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Reassigned to AHL
Sogaard was demoted to AHL Belleville on Thursday. Sogaard allowed 10 goals in his last four NHL starts combined before being sent down Thursday. Joonas Korpisalo and Anton Forsberg are both under contract through 2024-25, so Sogaard will likely continue to spend most of his time in the minors next season.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Loses close game
Sogaard stopped 14 of 16 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Ducks. Sogaard didn't face a lot of traffic, but goals early in the second and third period ended up being enough to send him to the loss. The 23-year-old goalie is down to 1-3-0 with a 4.04 GAA and an .859 save percentage over six appearances this season. Anton Forsberg (lower body) was healthy enough to back up Wednesday and Joonas Korpisalo (illness) is also on the road trip, so Sogaard's stint with the big club may not last much longer.... Senators' Mads Sogaard: In goal Wednesday
Sogaard will protect the road goal versus the Ducks on Wednesday, per TSN 1200 Ottawa. Sogaard will start his second game in a row after stopping 36 of 39 shots in a 4-2 loss to the Flyers on Saturday. It's unclear who will back him up -- coming into Wednesday, Anton Forsberg was dealing with a lower-body injury and Joonas Korpisalo was sick.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Solid night against Flyers
Sogaard made 36 saves in a 4-2 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Every goal was a tough one. Sogaard had a bead on the first one, but Joel Farabee redirected the shot past him at 1:08 of the first. Tyson Foerster scored twice in the last minute of the second, first on a 2-on-1 and then 45 seconds later on a penalty shot. Sogaard was solid Saturday, but he's 1-2-0 with a 4.58 GAA and .857 save percentage in five NHL appearances this season. He will head back to the AHL as soon as Joonas Korpisalo (illness) returns to action.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Sent down
Sogaard was sent down to AHL Belleville on Wednesday. Sogaard has given up 14 goals on 80 shots across four NHL appearances this season. The 23-year-old will swap places with Kevin Mandolese during the NHL's All-Star break, though it's unclear if this move will stick once the Senators' season resumes Feb. 10 versus the Maple Leafs.... Senators' Mads Sogaard: Pulled after first period
Sogaard allowed three goals on 11 shots before he was replaced by Joonas Korpisalo to start the second period in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Predators. It was a tough night for Sogaard, though the 23-year-old netminder was spared the loss as Ottawa rallied for four unanswered goals to earn the overtime victory. Sogaard is 1-1-0 with an ugly .825 save percentage and 5.09 GAA in four appearances this season. Still, he'll likely remain the backup to Korpisalo until Anton Forsberg (groin) is able to return.... Senators' Mads Sogaard: Starting in Philadelphia
Sogaard will guard the road goal Sunday against the Flyers, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Soggard surrendered six goals on 33 shots in a 7-4 loss to Colorado on Tuesday during his NHL season debut. He will get the second half of Ottawa's back-to-back after Joonas Korpisalo played in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to Winnipeg. Philadelphia is tied for 22nd in the league this campaign with 2.93 goals per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Fades late in season debut
Sogaard stopped 27 of 33 shots in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Avalanche. Colorado's final goal was scored into an empty net. Sogaard made some big stops early in his first NHL start of the season and Ottawa held a 4-2 lead late in the second period, but things began to unravel after Mikko Rantanen snapped a shot past the netminder before the second intermission. Sogaard was posting solid numbers for AHL Belleville prior to his promotion with a 2.48 GAA and a .920 save percentage in 16 outings, so he should get a few more chances to prove himself before Anton Forsberg (groin) returns from IR.... Senators' Mads Sogaard: Defending cage versus Avs
Sogaard will patrol the blue paint at home against Colorado on Tuesday, Wayne Scanlan of Sportsnet reports. Sogaard will make his first NHL start of the season, having played exclusively in the minors this year. With AHL Belleville, the 23-year-old Dane is sporting an 8-5-2 record to go with a 2.48 GAA. With Anton Forsberg (groin) out long term, Sogaard figures to serve primarily as the No. 2 option behind Joonas Korpisalo.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Heads to minors
Sogaard was reassigned to AHL Belleville on Sunday. Sogaard's return to the minors could bode well for the availability of Joonas Korpisalo (undisclosed) ahead of Monday's contest against Florida.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Returns to AHL
Sogaard was reassigned to AHL Belleville on Sunday. Sogaard suited up as Anton Forsberg's backup in Saturday's 2-1 shootout win over Minnesota. Joonas Korpisalo (undisclosed) has plenty of time to recover from a minor injury before Friday's home game against the Islanders.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Mads Sogaard: Starting season finale
Sogaard will defend the road cage against the Sabres on Thursday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. Sogaard has appeared in 18 games for the Senators this season in which he posted an 8-6-2 record, 3.29 GAA and .889 save percentage. The fact that the Sens are giving this last game of the season to Sogaard would seem to indicate that Cam Talbot won't be re-signed ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, which could open the door for Sogaard to be the No. 1 option.... Ian Mendes@ian_mendes12/31/1969The Senators will open the regular season in exactly three months from today. What could that opening night lineup look like on October 10? Let’s dive in with an early projection to see where some of the new pieces may fit — and where some holes remain. https://t.co/pMIROPX7Pl

Ian Mendes@ian_mendes12/31/1969I asked Gabriel Eliasson about what he knows about the Ottawa Senators. He mentioned Brady Tkachuk. “I see he makes some big hits and I saw that he had 16 hits in a game or something like that. So that’s unreal.” https://t.co/1nAA6YHQlR
