Rangers' Ryan Lindgren: Agrees to one-year contract
Lindgren signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
The two sides had an arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday, but that won't be necessary anymore. Lindgren registered three goals, 17 points, 73 shots on net, 103 blocked shots and 114 hits across 76 regular-season contests in 2023-24.

Rangers' Matthew Robertson: Inks one-year contract
Robertson signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Rangers on Monday.
Robertson registered four goals and 21 points in 68 regular-season contests for AHL Hartford in 2023-24. He also chipped in one assist in 10 playoff outings. The 23-year-old defender doesn't have any NHL experience yet. Robertson will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Rangers' Braden Schneider: Agrees to extension
Schneider signed a two-year, $4.4 million contract with the Rangers on Saturday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
It'll be a bridge deal, carrying an AAV of $2.2 million, for the 22-year-old Schneider after he posted five goals, 19 points and a minus-1 rating while playing in all 82 games last season. Schneider has emerged as a steady third-pairing blueliner in New York, and he could be in line for a larger role in the 2024-25 campaign.

Rangers' Chad Ruhwedel: Inks one-year pact
Ruhwedel inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Rangers on Friday.
The fact that Ruhwedel signed a two-way deal doesn't bode well for him seeing a lot of minutes with New York this season. The 34-year-old blueliner has made a career out of being a seventh defenseman, one that includes a Stanley Cup championship, so he won't necessarily be playing a bunch with AHL Hartford. Regardless, fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting much out of Ruhwedel even when he does get into the lineup.

Rangers' Benoit-Olivier Groulx: Signs one-year pact
Groulx inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Rangers on Tuesday.
Groulx played in 45 games for the Ducks last season in which he recorded two assists, 32 shots and 101 hits while averaging 12:11 of ice time. Despite suiting up in more than half of Anaheim's games, the team opted not to give him a qualifying offer, allowing the 24-year-old center to become an unrestricted free agent. With the Rangers, Groulx could struggle for regular opportunities given the organizational depth at forward.

Rangers' Casey Fitzgerald: Signs two-year deal
Fitzgerald secured a two-year, $1.55 million contract with the Rangers on Tuesday.
Fitzgerald saw action in 69 regular-season contests with AHL Charlotte last season in which he tallied four goals and 17 assists. Despite the decent production, the 27-year-old defenseman was unable to break his way into the NHL, having last played at the top level back in 2022-23 when with the Panthers. Given New York's forward depth, Fitzgerald will likely face an uphill battle in securing minutes at the NHL level.

Rangers' Reilly Smith: Acquired for picks
Smith was traded to the Rangers from the Penguins on Monday in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Smith never seemed to truly mesh with the Penguins, who acquired him in a trade from Vegas the previous offseason, scoring just 13 goals in 76 regular-season contests. The Rangers will be hoping to get at least 20 goals out of the 33-year-old winger, though he's only reached that mark once in his last four campaigns. Smith figures to slot into a third-line role but could provide cover for the top six if injuries pop up.

Rangers' Sam Carrick: Headed for Big Apple
Carrick secured a three-year, $3 million contract with the Rangers on Monday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.
Carrick will provide New York with some bottom-six depth, likely serving as a replacement for Barclay Goodrow, who was waived by the team back in mid-June. The 32-year-old Carrick saw action in 77 regular-season contests for the Ducks and Oilers last year in which he generated 10 goals and six helpers. The Ontario native is unlikely to offer significantly more than that in terms of offensive contributions in 2024-25 but could offer some value in formats that value hits after logging a career 167 hits in 2023-24.

Rangers' Raoul Boilard: Stolen in Round 4
Boilard was the 119th overall pick by the Rangers in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
Few could have seen Boilard's breakout season coming. He split time between two BCHL teams two years ago, managing just 10 goals and 22 points in 48 games. He made the jump to the QMJHL this past season and became an immediate impact player, finishing with 22 goals and 62 points in 68 contests. If the production and advancements in his game we saw from Boilard this past year are signs of things to come, the Rangers may have gotten a potential steal.

Rangers' EJ Emery: Fast defensive rock goes 30th
Emery was the 30th overall pick by the Rangers in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Friday.
As a dual American/Canadian citizen, Emery elected to go to the US NTDP/collegiate route as opposed to the CHL. His time in Ann Arbor highlighted both the strengths and weaknesses of his game. Emery is a terrific athlete. He's a great skater who's particularly explosive in short bursts. His game is similar to Rangers rearguard K'Andre Miller at the same age, but minus any offense. Emery is headed to North Dakota to develop his game. When he hits Madison Square, he'll be the kind of hard-to-play-against, playoff-style defender that every Stanley Cup winning team covets, but Emery won't offer you any fantasy value.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Hits waivers
Goodrow was placed on waivers Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
If Goodrow is not claimed by another team, the Rangers could bury his contract in the minors or buy out the final three seasons of his six-year, $21.85 million contract. The 31-year-old forward produced four goals, eight assists, 78 PIM, 86 blocked shots and 170 hits in 80 games during the 2023-24 regular season. He also contributed six goals, eight points, 29 blocks and 41 hits across 16 outings during the 2024 playoffs.

Rangers' Karl Henriksson: Inks overseas deal
Henriksson agreed to terms on a three-year contract with the Swedish club Vaxjo Lakers on Thursday.
Henriksson will be a restricted free agent for the Rangers this offseason, so the team could retain his NHL rights by giving him a qualifying offer. Having said that, the fact that Henriksson signed a three-year deal with a Swedish team suggests he won't be making a return to North America any time soon, so the Rangers could simply decide to let him walk. In the minors this year, the 23-year-old center generated 11 goals and 12 assists in 64 games -- that's not the type of productivity New York was hoping for when they selected him in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Rangers' Kaapo Kakko: Agrees to one-year deal
Kakko signed a one-year, $2.4 million contract with the Rangers on Thursday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Kakko was set to become a restricted free agent in July after completing his two-year, $4.2 million contract. He struggled in 2023-24, recording just 13 goals and 19 points across 61 regular-season contests after setting career highs with 18 goals and 40 points in 82 regular-season outings in 2022-23. The 23-year-old can't be counted out, but he certainly hasn't lived up to his potential after being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Look for him to open next season as a part of the Rangers' middle six.
