Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Exits Friday's game
Lindgren (upper body) won't return to Friday's game versus the Canadiens.
Lindgren suffered the injury in a collision, and while he initially stayed in the game, he later exited in the second period. Lindgren stopped all nine shots he faced prior to his exit, but the Capitals couldn't maintain a 1-0 lead after he left the contest, so he won't end up with a decision on his record. If Lindgren ultimately misses time, Logan Thompson would likely serve as a full-time starter in his absence.

Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Starting against Habs
Lindgren will be in goal for Friday's home matchup with Montreal, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Despite Lindgren having lost four straight contests, including an overtime defeat in each of his previous two, the Caps continue to roll with their every-other plan for the two netminders. During his current winless streak, the 31-year-old Lindgren is sporting a 3.16 GAA and an .880 save percentage. If he can't start putting together wins soon, the team may have to consider handing more starts over to Logan Thompson, who is expected to get the nod on the road against Nashville on Saturday.

Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Third straight loss
Lindgren allowed three goals on 33 shots in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to Minnesota.
Lindgren allowed two goals at even strength and one shorthanded. The shorthanded tally by Minnesota was a result of Lindgren misplaying the puck behind the net -- Yakov Trenin was able to capitalize on Lindgren's mistake to give the Wild a 2-1 lead late in the first period. The 31-year-old Lindgren is mired in his toughest stretch of the season, as he's 0-2-1 across his last three starts while allowing 10 goals in that span. Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Saddled with loss
Lindgren stopped 21 of 24 shots faced during Monday's 4-1 road loss to the Bruins.
Lindgren paid the price for the Capitals' failure to generate much of any offense, as they finished with just 11 shots in the final game before the holiday break. The Capitals continue to stick with a rigid rotation between Lindgren and Logan Thompson, which means the former is likely to return to action in a Sunday matinee in Detroit.

Lindgren made 21 saves in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Stars.
The 30-year-old netminder had won four straight starts coming into Monday, but after grabbing a 1-0 lead in the first period, the Caps' offense went cold and didn't give Lindgren much support. His recent success has largely been due to the team in front of him -- Lindgren is 6-2-0 over his last eight outings but with a far less impressive 2.64 GAA and a .900 save percentage.

The 30-year-old Lindgren is riding a four-game winning streak during which he is sporting a 2.73 GAA and .899 save percentage. At this point, with both backstops playing well, there is no reason to expect the team to deviate from its every-other game approach to dividing the workload between the pipes.
