Vladar bounced back from his worst start of the season, a six-goal meltdown in Pittsburgh on Saturday, to earn his second shutout of the campaign. The 27-year-old netminder has done a decent job in a timeshare role this season. He's at 5-5-3 with a 2.65 GAA and a .904 save percentage through 13 appearances. Vladar's outing Tuesday marked just the second time he's started consecutive games all season, though he may get a third straight nod given the win. The Flames host the Blues on Thursday.

Vladar has a 4-4-2 record, 2.67 GAA and .903 save percentage in 10 appearances in 2024-25. He's been used lightly by Calgary recently -- this will be just his second start in the Flames' past six games -- because Dustin Wolf enjoyed a fantastic run from Nov. 11-21 in which he allowed only four goals on 116 shots (.966 save percentage) across four starts. However, Wolf stopped 26 of 30 shots en route to a 4-3 loss to Ottawa on Monday, so perhaps the hot streak is over. The Red Wings are tied for 25th offensively with 2.52 goals per game.

Flames' Dan Vladar: Gets fourth win of season
Vladar made 20 saves Saturday in a 4-3 shootout win over Minnesota.
Vladar bent but didn't break in the third period when the Wild turned up the heat and scored twice in a span of 3:25 to force overtime. Minnesota is tied for third in the NHL with 30 third-period goals this season. Vladar shut the door in overtime and the shootout to earn his fourth win of 2024-25. Dustin Wolf has had the hot hand in the Flames net of late, so this was a strong performance for Vladar to prove they can still share the crease. Whether that happens or not is still to be determined.

The two goalies alternated starts in October, but head coach Ryan Huska looks to be leaning toward riding the hot hand moving forward. The Flames looked absolutely overmatched Monday. Vladar did what he could between the pipes, but there wasn't much he could've done since the defense rarely provided any help. It's unclear if Vladar will remain the starter for Wednesday's game against Utah, but his 3.18 GAA and .895 save percentage aren't exactly encouraging figures going forward.
