Barron scored a goal on two shots and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Golden Knights. The goal was his first point over eight games since Nashville acquired him from Montreal. Barron has occasionally seen limited usage, but he's been listed on the top pairing alongside Roman Josi for the last couple of games. Barron has just two goals over 25 appearances in 2024-25, and he's added 24 shots on net, 28 hits, 32 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating. Predators' Justin Barron: At practice Friday
Barron (not injury related) has joined his new team on the ice for Friday's practice session, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Barron wasn't able to join the Predators in time to face the Penguins on Thursday but could be in line to make his Nashville debut in Saturday's clash with the Kings after Marc Del Gaizo and Kevin Gravel were both sent down to AHL Milwaukee on Friday. Still, if Roman Josi (lower body) is activated off injured reserve, Barron could find himself relegated to the press box -- much like he often was during his time with Montreal.... See More ... Predators' Justin Barron: Won't play Thursday
Barron will not arrive in time to face the Penguins on Thursday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Barron was just traded to the Predators on Wednesday, so it would have been a quick turnaround for him to jump into the lineup immediately. Once he does link up with the club, Barron is far from a lock to be in the lineup on a nightly basis, especially when Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) and Roman Josi (lower body) are cleared to play.... Predators' Justin Barron: Flipped in trade to Nashville
Barron was traded to the Predators from the Canadiens on Wednesday in exchange for Alexandre Carrier. It's a flip of defensemen on bottom-dwelling teams. The Canadiens will get a more established player to bolster their blue line, while the Predators will try to unlock some upside in Barron, who has played sparingly this year. Barron has a goal, 16 shots on net, 20 blocked shots, 17 hits and a minus-4 rating over 17 appearances this season. He'll likely occupy a third-pairing role in Nashville.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Filling part-time role
Barron has played in just five of the Canadiens' 16 games since the start of November after sitting out Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Capitals. Barron appears to be on the outside looking in for now. Jayden Struble and Arber Xhekaj are ahead of him on the depth chart, though Barron tends to draw in whenever there's an injury concern. Barron has one goal, 14 shots on net, 15 hits, 15 blocked shots, eight PIM and a minus-6 rating through 13 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Back in lineup
Barron had one block and one hit in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals. Barron was back in the active lineup after missing three games due to an upper-body injury. He lined up on the third pair with Jayden Struble and finished minus-2 over 10:52 of ice time. Barron's return prompted the Habs to make Arber Xhekaj a healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Set to return Thursday
Barron (upper body) is set to return to the Canadiens' lineup for Thursday's road game against the Capitals. Barron has been unavailable for Montreal's last three games due to an upper-body injury, but he traveled with the team ahead of its road trip and will return to the ice in Washington along with Kaiden Guhle (upper body). Over his first seven appearances of the season, Barron has recorded a goal on eight shots while also racking up 13 hits and eight blocked shots.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Will travel with team
Barron (upper body) will join the Canadiens on their upcoming two-game road trip, which will begin Thursday in Washington, Montreal announced Wednesday. Barron has missed the Canadiens' past three games, but it appears he might be close to returning. He has a goal, 13 hits and eight blocks across seven appearances in 2024-25. When Barron is ready to return, he will likely serve on the third pairing while Arber Xhekaj, who has dressed in Montreal's past three games, might be a healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Not playing Tuesday
Barron (upper body) won't play Tuesday against Seattle, per Marc Antoine Godin of La Presse. Despite participating in Tuesday's morning skate, Barron will miss his third straight outing. He has one goal, eight shots on net, eight blocked shots and 13 hits across seven appearances this season. Arber Xhekaj will remain in the lineup against the Kraken due to Barron's absence.... Canadiens' Justin Barron: Won't play Sunday
Barron (upper body) isn't warming up with Montreal ahead of Sunday's game against the Flyers, Jonathan Bernier of The Montreal Journal reports. Barron suffered an upper-body injury Tuesday against the Rangers and will be unavailable for a second consecutive game. His next chance to return will be Tuesday against the Kraken, while Arber Xhekaj will remain in the lineup Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Can't finish contest
Barron (upper body) left Tuesday's game versus the Rangers after receiving a high hit from Jacob Trouba, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports. Barron was hit in the third period and didn't return to the contest, finishing with 15:01 of ice time. There was no update after the game, leaving the defenseman questionable for Saturday's game versus the Blues. If Barron can't play, Arber Xhekaj will likely return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Signs two-year contract
Barron signed a two-year, $2.3 million contract with Montreal on Tuesday. Barron accounted for seven goals, 13 points, 60 shots on net, 59 blocked shots and 61 hits across 48 regular-season contests with the Canadiens in 2023-24. He also had two tallies and 11 points in 32 regular-season outings with AHL Laval last campaign. The 22-year-old blueliner will compete for a depth spot on Montreal's roster during training camp.... Canadiens' Justin Barron: Sent to AHL
Barron was reassigned to AHL Laval on Wednesday. Barron had seven goals, 13 points, 16 PIM, 61 hits and 59 blocks in 48 contests with the Canadiens this season. He has also provided two goals and 11 points in 30 outings with Laval. Montreal's campaign is over, but the 22-year-old should factor into the big club's plans for the 2024-25 campaign. Before that, though, Barron will need a new contract, because he's set to become a restricted free agent this summer.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Nets overtime winner Monday
Barron netted a goal in a 3-2 overtime win over the Jets on Monday. Barron accounted for the game-winning goal, scoring on the power play at 1:09 of the extra frame. It was both his first GWG and PPG of the 2023-24 campaign. Through 28 contests this season, he has six markers and 11 points. The 22-year-old also registered two assists in his previous contest Saturday, making this just the second time this year he's recorded at least a point in consecutive appearances -- the other instance was from Oct. 23-24 when he scored in back-to-back games.... Canadiens' Justin Barron: Two points in win
Barron had two assists and two shots on net over 17:55 of ice time in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders. Barron assisted on both of Josh Anderson's second-period tallies. The two-assist night was Barron's first multi-point effort and snapped a five-game run without a point, his longest such drought of the season. Barron has five goals, five assists, 32 shots, 30 hits and 46 blocked shots over 27 games.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Shows offense in OT loss
Barron scored a goal on one shot and blocked three shots over 19:24 of ice time in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Red Wings. Barron stemmed Detroit's early onslaught, scoring Montreal's first goal with seven seconds left in the first period to cut the Red Wings' lead to 3-1. His pinch led to a Nick Suzuki shot that was blocked right onto the stick of Barron, who deposited his fifth goal in 21 games. The 22-year-old blueliner has a 21.7 shooting percentage and is tied for sixth among defensemen in tallies.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Sends assist in win
Barron notched an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Ducks. Barron has a goal and an assist over his last three games, providing a little offense from the blue line. He's holding down a top-four role, mainly through his defensive play. Canadiens' Justin Barron: Closes gap late
Barron scored a goal on two shots, blocked three shots, delivered two hits and had a two-minute penalty over 22:12 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Vegas. The Canadiens pulled the goalie and were pressing to score two goals late when Barron closed the deficit to one. He was positioned in the high slot, stick cocked and ready to fire, and finished a feed from Cole Caufield. The fact he was on the ice in that situation is a telling sign that Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis believes in the offensive potential Barron showed last season (15 points, 39 games). The defenseman has four tallies on 13 shots (30.8 shooting percentage) and five points over 14 games.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Justin Barron: Records assist in loss
Barron had an assist and two shots on net over 19:23 of ice time in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay. Barron and Jordan Harris picked up the assists on Christian Dvorak's third-period goal. The two defensemen didn't do much on the play, as Dvorak, with speed through the neutral zone, finished his rush with a beautiful wrister. It was the fourth point in three games for Barron, whose other three points are goals. The 21-year-old, who was drafted in the first round of the 2021 Draft by Colorado, wasn't known for his offense coming up, but Barron has shown flashes in his short time with Montreal. He's currently a member of the second-unit power play.... See More ... See Less -
