  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Expected starter for Saturday

Gustavsson is expected to start against Team Finland on Saturday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Gustavsson is getting a second straight start for Sweden after stopping 24 of 28 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss to Canada on Wednesday. The 26-year-old netminder has a 22-11-3 record, 2.63 GAA and .915 save percentage across 37 appearances with Minnesota this season. Like Sweden, Finland is looking to rebound after suffering a loss in its opening game of the tournament -- the United States earned a 6-1 victory over Finland on Thursday.

  • Wild's Danila Yurov: Expected in NHL next year

Yurov has reportedly turned down a contract extension with KHL club Magnitogorsk Metallurg in favor of making the jump to the NHL next year, per RG Media.

Yurov hasn't produced at the same level this year, generating just 25 points in 45 games compared to the 49 points, including 21 goals, he registered in 62 regular-season KHL games last year. Selected by the Wild with the 24th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the 21-year-old winger could be an option to immediately link up with Minnesota for the start of next season -- though some time in the minors adjusting to the North American style of play would likely do him some good as well.

  • Wild's Matt Boldy: Gets winner in USA victory

Boldy had a goal and an assist in a 6-1 Team USA win over Finland on Thursday at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.

Boldy's goal stood as the winner. He set up in the high slot late in the first and deflected Brock Faber's shot from the right point down and through Juuse Saros' five hole. Boldy was impressive Thursday, and his efforts earned him the game's third star.

  • Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Clutch goal at 4 Nations Face Off

Eriksson Ek scored a goal Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Eriksson Ek roofed the puck into the net after settled a cross-crease pass from Jesper Bratt around the midpoint of the third period. It tied the game and forced overtime. He came into the contest on a four-game point drought. Eriksson Ek's production this year has been held back by injury -- he has just nine goals and 14 assists in 41 games, a far cry from his two 60-plus point campaigns in 2022-23 and 2023-24.

  • Wild's Jonas Brodin: Gets 4 Nations goal in OT loss

Brodin scored a goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Wednesday.

He wired a high shot from the right circle that went in short side over Jordan Binnington's left shoulder. Binner would like that goal back, but it was still a sweet snipe for Brodin, who had played just three NHL games after a month's absence due to injury before the tourney opened up. Brodin isn't an offensive stud, but he instead provides excellent two-way, shutdown defending for both the Wild and the Tre Kroner.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Solid in 4 Nations loss to Canada

Gustavsson made 24 saves for Sweden in a 4-3 overtime loss to Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Wednesday.

Gustavsson allowed two goals in the first, but he couldn't be faulted for either. And it's not like he got support early -- Sweden didn't have a shot on goal until 17:16 of the first period. Gustavsson was calm, cool and collected the rest of the way, including late in the third, when the game's fast pace quickened even further. Sweden next faces off on Saturday, when it meets Finland in Montreal.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Set to face Team Canada

Gustavsson is expected to start against Team Canada on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Gustavsson won his final two starts with the Wild before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, stopping 69 of 73 shots (.945 save percentage) in that span. He's 22-11-3 with a 2.63 GAA and a .915 save percentage in 37 appearances in 2024-25. He's got his work cut out for him against Canada's high-powered offense, but if he performs well then perhaps he'll be deployed again Saturday versus Finland. Sweden is also carrying goaltenders Samuel Ersson and Linus Ullmark.

  • Wild's Devin Shore: Lands on waivers

Shore was placed on waivers Tuesday, per PuckPedia.

Shore has one goal, two assists, 23 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and 47 hits across 34 NHL appearances this season. If the 30-year-old forward clears waivers, he could remain with Minnesota during the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off or head to AHL Iowa for additional playing time. Shore might be in the mix to play in the NHL after the break due to the absences of Ryan Hartman (suspension), Kirill Kaprizov (lower body) and Jakub Lauko (lower body).

  • Wild's Zeev Buium: Thriving as sophomore

Buium has generated six goals and 26 assists in 26 games with the University of Denver.

Buium currently sits third with the Pioneers behind fellow top prospects Jack Devine (39) and Aidan Thompson (35). The 19-year-old Buium is slightly ahead of his point-per-game pace from last year and should be capable of topping the 50-point threshold after hitting that mark as a freshman last year.

  • Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Good to go

Michael Russo of The Athletic reports Sunday that Eriksson Ek (lower body) will officially represent Team Sweden in the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Eriksson Ek, along with Wild teammates Filip Gustavsson and Jonas Brodin, will take on Team Canada in the first game of the international tournament Wednesday. Eriksson Ek will most likely be heavily relied upon in the defensive zone considering the plethora of talent that he'll go up against. The left-shot center has struggled on offense with just 23 points in 41 games in 2024-25, but his defensive acumen will be vital for Sweden.

  • Wild's Travis Dermott: Back in depth role

Dermott was scratched for the 10th time in 11 games when he sat out Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Dermott got some playing time in January when the Wild's blue line was ailing with multiple injuries. Since that part of the team has gotten healthy, Dermott has largely been relegated to the press box, and he didn't play even with seven blueliners in the lineup Saturday in the absence of Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body). The 28-year-old Dermott has yet to earn a point over 19 outings between the Oilers and Wild, adding eight shots on net, 16 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating.

  • Wild's Declan Chisholm: Struggling on offense

Chisholm has gone 11 games without a point after failing to get on the scoresheet in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Chisholm logged just 4:25 of ice time Saturday as the Wild dressed seven blueliners in the absence of Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body). Chisholm has had a career year with 11 points over 48 appearances, but he adds little else to the mix. He's racked up 53 shots on net, 43 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating. Chisholm has been scratched twice during his drought and may be in line for a smaller role down the stretch if he can't turn things around soon.

  • Wild's Jon Merrill: Slumping on offense

Merrill's point drought reached 14 games in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Merrill had been a healthy scratch the previous game. The Wild are short on players, so he had to fill in as a seventh defenseman when Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body) couldn't suit up. Merrill has a meager four points with 33 shots on net, 63 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 47 appearances this season, so he isn't a realistic fantasy option in most formats.

  • Wild's Jake Middleton: Pockets helper Saturday

Middleton notched an assist and three blocked shots in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Middleton set up a Yakov Trenin tally late in the second period that ended up being the game-winner. The helper ended Middleton's eight-game slump, during which he went minus-1 with 19 blocked shots and nine hits. The 29-year-old is up to 18 points through 45 outings this season, giving him a chance to surpass the 25-point career year he had in 2023-24. He's added 65 shots on net, 66 hits, 113 blocked shots, 31 PIM and a plus-16 rating in 2024-25 while filling a top-four role.

  • Wild's Marcus Foligno: Fills empty cage Saturday

Foligno scored an empty-net goal on two shots and added two hits in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Foligno's last three goals have gone into empty nets. He has four tallies and two assists over his last eight contests. The 33-year-old winger is up to 10 goals, 21 points, 62 shots on net, 177 hits, 53 PIM and a plus-11 rating over 56 appearances, which is nearly identical production to his last two campaigns. He adds grit in a middle-six role and can help fantasy managers in deep formats.

  • Wild's Brock Faber: Slides apple in home win

Faber supplied a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots, one hit and a plus-1 rating Saturday in a 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Faber's helper on Frederick Gaudreau's 11th marker of the campaign cut New York's lead to 3-2 at 13:21 of the middle frame. Faber hadn't registered a point in eight games prior to Saturday. This was also his first assist since Dec. 31. It's been a bit of a disappointment for the 22-year-old from an offensive standpoint this season -- he's on pace for just 35 points after providing eight goals and 39 assists over 82 regular-season contests in 2023-24. However, the right-shot blueliner has reclaimed a spot on the No. 1 power-play unit after a brief demotion to the second group in favor of Jared Spurgeon. Faber will now link up with Team USA ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off, which begins Feb. 12.

  • Wild's Yakov Trenin: Chips in goal in victory

Trenin generated an even-strength goal on a team-high eight shots Saturday in a 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Trenin gave the Wild a 4-3 lead late in the middle frame when he redirected a Jake Middleton shot past Ilya Sorokin. Trenin's eight shots on goal were by far his most in a game this season -- he had registered more than three on just one occasion over 49 appearances prior to Saturday. The 28-year-old is up to six goals, 12 points and a plus-5 rating heading into the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.

  • Wild's Frederick Gaudreau: Pots goal in Saturday's win

Gaudreau netted a power-play goal on two shots and went plus-1 in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Gaudreau's tally was a fortunate one, as his shot was headed wide of the target before it careened off Tony DeAngelo into the back of the net. This was Gaudreau's third power-play marker of the season, matching his career high. Through 56 appearances this season, the Quebec native has chipped in 11 goals and 24 points while filling a middle-six role in addition to a spot on the No. 2 power-play unit. Gaudreau is currently converting at the best rate of his career with a 14.5 shooting percentage.

  • Wild's Marco Rossi: Opens scoring in Saturday's victory

Rossi found the back of the net on two shots and went plus-1 in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Rossi's 19th goal of the campaign opened the scoring at 3:19 of the opening frame -- he received a pass from Matt Boldy in the slot and fired a wrist shot past Ilya Sorokin's blocker. This was Rossi's first point through four games in February. The left-shot center heads into the break with 28 assists, 47 points and a plus-15 rating over 56 appearances. The 23-year-old has already set new career highs in assists and points, and he'll look to add to his totals when Minnesota resumes play Feb. 22 in Detroit.

  • Wild's Jared Spurgeon: Slides two apples in win

Spurgeon recorded two even-strength assists Saturday in a 6-3 win over the Islanders.

Spurgeon registered secondary assists on goals by Marco Rossi and Matt Boldy in this contest. Spurgeon has points in back-to-back games, and he's been productive of late with two goals and five helpers over his last eight outings. The right-shot blueliner has been held off the scoresheet only twice during that span. Spurgeon was quarterbacking the top power-play unit for a short period, but Brock Faber has recently reclaimed that role. The 35-year-old Spurgeon is at six goals, 20 points and a plus-4 rating across 41 appearances in 2024-25.
