  • Sabres' Jack Rathbone: Secures one-year deal

Rathbone signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres on Monday.

Rathbone had nine goals and 25 points across 69 AHL regular-season contests between Abbotsford and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last year. The 25-year-old also has two goals and five points in 28 career NHL appearances. He'll likely spend most of 2024-25 with AHL Rochester but could push for an NHL job in training camp.

  • Wild's Jacob Middleton: Agrees to four-year extension

Middleton signed a four-year, $17.4 million contract extension with Minnesota on Monday, per Darren Dreger of TSN.

Middleton has one more season left on his three-year, $7.35 million deal. He accounted for seven goals, 25 points, 85 shots on net, 77 PIM, 161 blocked shots and 147 hits over 80 regular-season contests in 2023-24. Middleton will likely continue to see top-pairing minutes for the Wild in the upcoming campaign.

  • Cam Crotty D | ARI

Wild's Cameron Crotty: Signs two-way contract

Crotty signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Wild on Monday.

Crotty made his NHL debut for the Coyotes last season, logging 10:03 of ice time in a 4-2 win over Dallas on March 24. The 25-year-old blueliner didn't record a point but dished out four hits to go with two blocked shots. Crotty doesn't have much offense, so fantasy managers probably shouldn't bother tracking whether he is playing in the AHL or NHL next season.

  • Kings' Joel Edmundson: Gets three-year contract

Edmundson signed a four-year, $15.4 million contract with the Kings on Monday.

Edmundson had a goal, six points, 23 PIM, 80 hits and 65 blocked shots in 53 regular-season contests between Washington and Toronto in 2023-24. The 31-year-old will probably serve primarily on the Kings' third pairing.

  • Predators' Alexandre Carrier: Secures three-year deal

Carrier penned a three-year, $11.25 million contract with Nashville on Monday.

Carrier deciding to re-up with the Predators will likely fly under the radar after the club signed top free agents Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei. Still, the 27-year-old Carrier should be in the mix for a spot on the blue line after tallying four goals and 16 assists in 73 regular-season contests last season.

  • Sean Walker D | CAR

Hurricanes' Sean Walker: Makes five-year commitment

Walker signed a five-year, $18 million contract with the Hurricanes on Monday.

Walker had 10 goals, 29 points, 50 PIM, 116 hits and 127 blocked shots across 81 regular-season games between Philadelphia and Colorado in 2023-24. The 29-year-old might serve in a top-four capacity with Carolina, but he probably won't get much ice time on the power play, as Brent Burns and Shayne Gostisbehere figure to handle those duties.

  • Canucks' Vincent Desharnais: Signs two-year contract

Desharnais signed a two-year, $4 million contract with Vancouver on Monday.

Desharnais compiled one goal, 10 assists, 41 shots on net, 122 blocked shots and 134 hits in 78 regular-season contests with Edmonton in 2023-24. He will serve as a depth defender for the Canucks.

  • Bruins' Jordan Oesterle: Headed for Beantown

Oesterle signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Bruins on Monday.

Oesterle played in 22 regular-season games for the Flames last year in which he notched two assists, 18 shots and 33 blocked shots while averaging 13:31 of ice time. Considering the Bruins added Nikita Zadarov to an already deep defensive core Monday, the 32-year-old Oesterle figures to spend most of the campaign with AHL Providence.

  • Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Agrees to three-year deal

Gostisbehere signed a three-year, $9.6 million contract with the Hurricanes, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports Monday.

Gostisbehere scored 10 goals and 56 points in 81 regular-season contests in 2023-24 for Detroit. He's a great asset on the power play, supplying two goals and 29 points with the man advantage last season. Gostisbehere will probably be limited to a third-pairing role at even strength, but Carolina is expected to take advantage of his abilities on the power play.

  • Maple Leafs' Jani Hakanpaa: Gets two-year contract

Hakanpaa (knee) signed a two-year, $3 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Monday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Hakanpaa had two goals, 12 points, 196 hits and 123 blocked shots in 64 regular-season outings with the Stars in 2023-24. He didn't play past March 16 due to his knee injury, which required an arthroscopic procedure. Provided Hakanpaa is healthy, he'll probably serve on Toronto's third pairing.
