Adams signed his restricted free-agent tender with the Jets on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Adams will return to the Jets on a one-year contract, which the team offered him in March. He has appeared in 30 games over the past two seasons, starting all but four of those while compiling 166 tackles and 11 passes defensed over that span. Adams can tentatively be penciled in as the starting strong safety heading into 2025, though the Jets could still add competition via the draft or free agency.... See More ... See Less

Jets' Tony Adams: Receives tender
Adams was tendered by the Jets on Monday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Adams appeared in 15 games (11 starts) for the Jets in 2024, recording career highs in total tackles (84), sacks (1.0) and passes defended (six). After placing a tender on Adams, the Jets have the right to match any offer he receives in free agency. The 26-year-old from Illinois is now likely to return to New York and compete for a starting safety role throughout the offseason.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Logs career-high tackle total
Adams registered 84 tackles (42 solo), including 1.0 sacks, along with six pass defenses (one of which was an interception) over 15 games (11 starts) during the 2024 campaign. Despite recording 143 fewer defense snaps than in 2023, Adams increased his tackle total by two. He also had one more pass defense than in the previous campaign, though he finished with two fewer interceptions. Adams was somewhat surprisingly taken out of the starting lineup Weeks 11-14, though he returned to the starting unit for New York's final three games after Jalen Mills was placed on IR due to a collarbone injury. Adams will be a restricted free agent upon the start of the offseason, and given his late-season demotion, it's uncertain if he'll be back with the club for another campaign.... See More ... Jets' Tony Adams: Will play against Bills
Adams (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against Buffalo. Adams was limited in practice all week due to an ankle injury, but it doesn't appear severe enough for him to be sidelined for Sunday's AFC East clash. The 25-year-old free safety has logged 75 tackles (37 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and six pass defenses (including one interception) across 13 regular-season games.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Limited in Thursday's practice
Adams (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Adams injured his ankle during the Jets' Week 16 loss to the Rams. His practice participation Friday will indicate his status heading into Sunday's AFC East clash against the Bills.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Exits game due to ankle injury
Adams (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Rams. Adams picked off Matthew Stafford in the second quarter of Sunday's game, but he's iffy to return due to an ankle injury. Isaiah Oliver is the top candidate to take over at free safety while Adams is sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Exits versus Jacksonville
Adams is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Jaguars due to a nose injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Adams logged two tackles in the first half but is now questionable to return coming out of halftime. Starting free safety Jalen Mills was also forced out and will not return due to a chest injury. With the Jets very thin at safety, expect Ashtyn Davis and Isaiah Oliver to step into bigger roles alongside starter Chuck Clark.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Should be set for Sunday
Adams (hamstring) practiced in full Wednesday. Adams has been sidelined since Week 7 when he suffered the injury. His return to the practice field should set the stage for him to suit up in Week 10 against the Cardinals after a two-game absence.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Ruled out vs. Texans
Adams (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Houston. Adams has been unable to practice since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 7 against the Steelers, and the injury is serious enough that he'll miss a second straight game. Adams' next chance at suiting up will be Week 10 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 10. With Adams and Ashtyn Davis (concussion) both sidelined for Thursday's game, Jalen Mills and Isaiah Oliver will serve as the Jets' starting safeties.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Logs DNP
Adams (hamstring) is not practicing Wednesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Adams suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the Steelers and his absence from practice Wednesday will leave his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots in question. With Ashtyn Davis (concussion) also questionable, the Jets could be without both of their starting safeties for the matchup.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Starts 15 games in 2023
Adams finished the 2023 season with 82 tackles (54 solo) and seven passes defensed, including three interceptions. After posting just 17 tackles in his rookie season, Adams played a much larger role in his second NFL campaign. The 24-year-old safety started in all 15 of his appearances and finished strong, with two of Adams' interceptions coming in his last three games. He'll be back with the Jets in 2024, though the team could bring in competition for the starting free safety role.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Up to 80 tackles in 2023
Adams posted eight tackles (five solo), including two tackles for loss, in Thursday's 37-20 loss to the Browns. Adams tied his second-highest tackle total of the season and shared the team lead Thursday with Jordan Whitehead and C.J. Mosley. The 24-year-old safety has been a pleasant surprise for the Jets in his second NFL season. Adams has made 14 starts, racking up 80 tackles (54 solo) to go with a pair of interceptions.... Jets' Tony Adams: Returns to game
Adams (hand) has returned to Sunday's matchup with the Bills, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. Jets' Tony Adams: Out for Sunday's matchup
Adams (hamstring) will miss the Jets' game against the Chiefs on Sunday, Mat McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Adams missed last week's loss against New England and will now be inactive for a second straight week. Adrian Amos will get the start once again and the 24-year-old will try to return against the Broncos next week.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Remains sidelined
Adams (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday, Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports. Adams suffered the injury in the team's Week 2 loss to the Cowboys and hasn't been able to take the field since. The Illinois product will likely need to get in at least a limited practice Thursday or Friday at the latest if he's going to suit up Sunday against the Chiefs. If he remains out, Adrian Amos should draw the start once again at free safety.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Ruled out for Week 3
Adams (hamstring) is ruled out for Sunday's divisional matchup against the Patriots, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports. Adams will sit out Week 3 due to a hamstring injury sustained in last Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. Until Adams is ready to retake the field, Adrian Amos will figure to step up as a starter in the Jets secondary.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Tony Adams: Doesn't return Sunday
Adams (hamstring) didn't return to Sunday's 30-10 loss in Dallas, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports. Prior to his exit midway through the contest, Adams compiled five solo tackles as the Jets' starting free safety. If Adams needs to miss any time, Adrian Amos likely will step into a regular role in the defense.... See More ... See Less -

Adams seems to be recovered from a head injury sustained last season, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
