Cardinals' Xavier Weaver: Doesn't practice Wednesday
Weaver (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Both Weaver and Marvin Harrison (heel) sat out drills to begin Week 14 prep, meaning Michael Wilson and Andre Baccellia are the only healthy wide receivers on the Cardinals' active roster at the moment. The team elevated Jalen Brooks and Trent Sherfield from the practice squad for this past Sunday's game against the Rams, and similar transactions likely will come to pass if one or both of Harrison and Weaver are sidelined again Sunday at Houston. Ultimately, Weaver likely will need to practice Thursday and/or Friday in order to have a chance to suit up this weekend.

Cardinals' Emari Demercado: Limited again Wednesday
Demercado (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Demercado has missed the past three games due to a high-ankle sprain and hasn't yet progressed enough in his recovery to log a full practice. He'll have two more opportunities to do so the week before the Cardinals potentially make a ruling on his status for Sunday's contest at Houston. Coach Jonathan Gannon announced earlier Wednesday that Trey Benson (knee) won't be activated from injured reserve, meaning his season is over. If Demercado puts himself in a position to return to action this weekend, he'd join Bam Knight and Michael Carter as options out of Arizona's backfield.

Cardinals' Marvin Harrison: Another DNP
Harrison (heel) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Harrison remains sidelined due to the heel injury he picked up in the fourth quarter of a Week 13 loss at Tampa Bay. With Harrison out again this past Sunday against the Rams -- like in Weeks 11-12 when he was unavailable following an appendectomy -- fellow WR Michael Wilson again went off, hauling in 11 of 16 targets for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Joining Harrison as a DNP on Wednesday was Xavier Weaver (hamstring), meaning Wilson and Andre Baccellia are the only healthy wide receivers on the Cardinals' active roster at the moment.

Cardinals' Trey Benson: Will not return this season
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said Wednesday that Benson (knee) will not be activated from IR, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2025 season, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Benson had his 21-day practice window opened in late November, and he initially managed limited on-field activity before being downgraded to consistent non-participant status. Instead, Bam Knight, Emari Demercado (ankle) and Michael Carter will handle Arizona's backfield reps for the remainder of the 2025 campaign. Carter, a 2024 third-round pick, had initially seemed primed for a substantial opportunity after starting running back James Conner (foot) went down to season-ending injury Week 3. Ultimately, Benson's durability concerns make his expected role murky for the 2026 season, which will be the last year of Conner's contract with the Cardinals.

Cardinals' Cody Simon: Just three tackles vs. LAR
Simon posted three tackles (one solo) during the Cardinals' 45-17 loss to the Rams on Sunday.
Simon played every single defensive snap for a fifth consecutive game, though his three tackles were his lowest since Week 9 against the Cowboys (three). The rookie fourth-rounder has started at middle linebacker in each of the Cardinals' last five games, coinciding with the placement of Mack Wilson (ribs) on injured reserve. Simon should continue to serve in an every-down role at linebacker for as long as Wilson remains on IR.

Cardinals' Paris Johnson: Week-to-week with knee issue
Johnson (knee) has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and is expected to miss some time, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Paris is the current leader in Pro Bowl votes for offensive tackles, and the loss of the stellar left guard does not bode well for the Cardinals' offense as they head to face the Texans on the road in Week 15. Josh Fryar will likely start alongside fellow backup tackle Kelvin Beachum due to the absence of starter Jonah Williams (shoulder) as well. Jacoby Brissett will have to have the ball out fast against a formidable Texans defense that allows the fewest points per game in the NFL (16.0).

Cardinals' Jalen Thompson: Registers seven stops Sunday
Thompson posted seven tackles (three solo) Sunday in a Week 14 loss to the Rams.
Thompson tied for the second-most stops on the Cardinals in the loss. The veteran safety has been a steady IDP option this season, posting at least five tackles in 10 of his 13 contests. Thompson is up to 81 stops, including 1.0 sacks, and six defensed passes on the campaign.

Cardinals' Budda Baker: Tallies six stops in Week 14 defeat
Baker logged six tackles (three solo) Sunday in a loss to the Rams.
Baker had a relatively quiet game, finishing tied for fourth on Arizona in stops. That was his lowest mark since he logged five tackles against Seattle in Week 10. Still, Baker has been an elite IDP option this season, registering 93 tackles (including 0.5 sacks) and four defensed passes (including one interception) through 13 games.

Cardinals' Elijah Higgins: Minimal output in Week 14
Higgins caught his only target for no yards during Sunday's 45-17 loss to the Rams.
Higgins started alongside top TE Trey McBride in Week 14 and logged a season-high 66 percent snap share as a number of injuries depleted the Cardinals' receiving corps, but the increased workload didn't translate into production. In addition to his usage on offense, Higgins tallied one tackle on kick coverage. He sports a meager 19-179-0 line on 23 targets through 13 games this season, keeping him off the fantasy radar.

Cardinals' Owen Pappoe: Notches double-digit stops Week 14
Pappoe posted 10 tackles (six solo) and a defensed pass in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
Pappoe led Arizona in stops despite playing only half of the team's defensive snaps. That was a significant increase in opportunity, as Pappoe had played exclusively on special teams over his 12 games prior to Sunday. Akeem Davis-Gaither notched just one defensive snap against Los Angeles, which may indicate that Arizona wants to give Pappoe an extended look moving forward, especially given his strong performance Sunday.

Cardinals' Andre Baccellia: Little output despite starting
Baccellia recorded one catch on three targets for three yards during Sunday's 45-17 defeat to the Rams.
The Cardinals were without WRs Marvin Harrison (heel), Greg Dortch (chest) and Xavier Weaver (hamstring) in Week 14, affording Baccellia an opportunity for his first career start. The third-year player took a back seat to Michael Wilson in receiving output but matched him with a 79 percent snap share, easily outpacing practice-squad elevations Jalen Brooks (40 percent) and Trent Sherfield (nine percent). Even if Baccellia retains that workload this coming Sunday, an unyielding Texans defense isn't likely to yield much production to a wideout with nine receptions over 17 NFL appearances in his career.

Cardinals' Trent Sherfield: Goes back to practice squad
Sherfield reverted to Arizona's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Sherfield got his first elevation since joining Arizona in mid-November for Sunday's loss to the Rams and played nine of 62 offensive snaps, fourth most among Cardinals wideouts. He finished with one target (which he didn't catch) and also played 20 snaps on special teams, making two tackles on kick coverage. Sherfield's opportunity came as a result of Marvin Harrison (heel) and Xavier Weaver (hamstring) missing the contest, and Sherfield's likelihood of being elevated again for Week 15 could hinge on the health of those two players.
