Top Blue Jackets News

  • Blue Jackets' Jordan Harris: Posts assist Thursday

Harris logged an assist and two hits in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

Harris played in the Blue Jackets' last four games of the season after a 22-game stint as a healthy scratch. The 24-year-old was limited to five points, 15 shots on net, 23 hits and 35 blocked shots over 33 appearances this season. He's one of three restricted free agents for the Blue Jackets this summer, who also have nine unrestricted free agents. Given his poor season, he probably won't be prioritized in negotiations, assuming he's given a qualifying offer.

  • Blue Jackets' Dante Fabbro: Pots goal Thursday

Fabbro scored a goal on three shots, blocked five shots and went plus-3 in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

Fabbro posted six points over 10 contests in April to end the season strong. The 26-year-old defenseman flourished with the Blue Jackets after getting claimed off waivers from the Predators. He ends the campaign with nine goals, 26 points, 89 shots on net, 67 hits, 143 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a plus-20 rating over 68 appearances. Fabbro is an unrestricted free agent this summer, one of nine UFAs on the Columbus roster, but general manager Don Waddell will likely have him near the top of the list for contract talks between now and July 1.

  • Blue Jackets' Sean Kuraly: Tallies in season finale

Kuraly scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

Kuraly ended his 22-game goal drought in the season finale. The 32-year-old's 17 points in 82 games this season represented his lowest output during his four years with the Blue Jackets. He added 88 shots on net, 163 hits, 45 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a minus-4 rating. It's a bad time to have a poor year, as Kuraly is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

  • Blue Jackets' Dmitri Voronkov: Deposits goal Thursday

Voronkov scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

Voronkov had a positive end to the campaign with three goals and two assists over the last nine contests. Still, it was a tale of two halves for the winger, who racked up 34 points over his first 43 games of the season after his debut was delayed to Nov. 1 due to an upper-body injury. From Feb. 1 through the end of the season, he was limited to 13 points over 30 outings. While still solid numbers -- a total of 47 points in 73 games -- Voronkov is at risk of getting lost in the shuffle as the Blue Jackets give more prospects a look. He added 154 shots on net, 71 hits, 47 blocked shots, 55 PIM and a plus-17 rating, so he should be good to at least start in a middle-six role in 2025-26.

  • Blue Jackets' Adam Fantilli: Tacks on goal

Fantilli scored a goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

Fantilli ended the season on a tear with seven goals over his last six games. That's a preview of his potential for 2025-26, as the 20-year-old center took a big leap forward in his sophomore season. He posted 31 goals, 54 points, 191 shots on net, 113 hits, 56 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 82 appearances. Fantilli should be in the mix for top-six minutes and power-play time next season as he looks to continue to grow his game.

  • Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski: Two points in Thursday's win

Werenski scored a goal and added an assist in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

The 27-year-old put the finishing touches on a career-best campaign by extending his point streak to six games. No player exemplified the Blue Jackets' stunning season better than Werenski -- after struggling to stay on the ice over the last few years due to injuries, the All-Star blueliner played 81 games and delivered a career-high 23 goals and 82 points, putting him second in the NHL among defensemen in both categories behind only Cale Makar. Werenski also established new career highs in shots on net (298), power-play points (25) and blocked shots (131).

  • Blue Jackets' Cole Sillinger: Two-point effort in finale

Sillinger produced a goal and an assist in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

After a scoreless first period, Sillinger opened the scoring early in the second with a wicked wrister past Marcus Hogberg. The 21-year-old center didn't take a big step forward with his offensive output in 2024-25, managing 11 goals and a career-high 33 points in 66 appearances, but he should be entrenched as a middle-six forward next season on the Blue Jackets' young and rapidly improving roster.

  • Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: Joining AHL playoff run

Mateychuk will be reassigned to AHL Cleveland following Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

This spring's playoff run is likely to be Mateychuk's last taste of AHL action. The 20-year-old defenseman played every NHL game between Jan. 25 and the end of the season. He totaled 13 points in 45 outings as a rookie. While there's still room for him to grow, he's one of the top defensive prospects in the league, and he'll likely be in a top-four role with the Blue Jackets in 2025-26.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Will return to AHL

Greaves will be reassigned to AHL Cleveland following Thursday's 6-1 win over the Islanders, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Graves made a great case for himself late in the season, winning the Blue Jackets' last five games of the year. He allowed just four goals on 160 shots in that span, good for a .975 save percentage. He'll head down to Cleveland for the remainder of the Monsters' regular season and playoff run, but the 24-year-old has put himself in position for a spot on Columbus' 2025-26 roster, and potentially even the team's No. 1 job in net.

  • Blue Jackets' Jake Christiansen: Missing season finale

Christiansen (upper body) won't play in Thursday's game versus the Islanders, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Christiansen will be out for the fourth straight game to end the season. The 25-year-old occasionally was a scratch this year as well, though he managed to play in 68 games. He earned eight points, 58 shots on net, 50 hits and 65 blocked shots. Christiansen signed a two-year contract in January to stay with Columbus, so he'll be part of the plans on defense for a while longer.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Tending twine to close out season

Greaves will defend the home crease against the Islanders on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

The Blue Jackets were eliminated from postseason contention when the Canadiens defeated the Hurricanes on Wednesday night, but Greaves will still get the start in Thursday's regular-season finale since Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) remains sidelined. Greaves helped to keep Columbus in the mix for a playoff spot by going 4-0-0 with a 0.75 GAA and .976 save percentage over his last four starts.

  • Blue Jackets' Zach Aston-Reese: Unavailable Thursday

Aston-Reese will not play Thursday versus the Islanders due to an undisclosed injury, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Aston-Reese finishes the season with six goals, 11 assists and 179 hits across 79 contests in 2024-25. Jack Williams will take his place in the lineup.

  • Blue Jackets' Kirill Marchenko: Snags assist Tuesday

Marchenko registered an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Flyers.

Marchenko's offense has stalled a bit lately -- he has three assists over his last four games, but that followed a four-game slide. The 24-year-old winger is up to 73 points (31 goals, 42 assists), 206 shots on net, 55 hits and a plus-28 rating over 78 appearances. If the Blue Jackets are still in playoff contention for their game Thursday versus the Islanders, expect Marchenko to handle his usual top-line duties.

  • Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski: Contributes two assists

Werenski logged two assists, including one on the power play, and five shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Flyers.

Werenski has two goals and four assists during a five-game point streak. The defenseman reached the 80-point mark with Tuesday's effort, becoming just the second blueliner in the league to hit that milestone in 2024-25. He's at 22 goals, 58 assists, 25 power-play points, 295 shots on net, 130 blocked shots and a plus-10 rating over 80 appearances.

  • Blue Jackets' Sean Monahan: Extends point streak to five games

Monahan recorded two assists, including one on the power play, and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Flyers.

Monahan has two goals and five assists during his five-game point streak. The 30-year-old center hasn't missed a beat since returning from a long-term wrist injury -- he's collected 15 points over 12 outings since his return. Overall, Monahan has 19 goals, 37 helpers, 128 shots on net and a plus-18 rating through 53 appearances.

  • Blue Jackets' Dante Fabbro: Sets career high in points

Fabbro scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Flyers.

Fabbro's goal gave him 25 points on the year, besting his previous high mark of 24 from the 2021-22 campaign. He's generated all of that offense in 61 contests with the Blue Jackets after opening the season scoreless in six games with the Predators. Fabbro has added 86 shots on net, 67 hits, 138 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a plus-17 rating this season with one more game on the schedule to add to his totals.

  • Blue Jackets' Kent Johnson: Stays hot with power-play goal

Johnson scored a power-play goal on three shots in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Flyers.

Johnson has two goals and five assists during his five-game point streak. The Blue Jackets have dug deep to stay in the playoff race this long, but their fate is out of their hands. Johnson is at 24 goals, 57 points, 120 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 67 contests in an impressive breakout campaign that should allow him to be a top-six player in Columbus for a long time.

  • Blue Jackets' Elvis Merzlikins: Not available for Thursday's game

Head coach Dean Evason said that Merzlikins (upper body) skated Wednesday but won't be available for Thursday's regular-season finale against the Islanders, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Although the Blue Jackets could be competing in a win-and-in situation during Thursday's matchup, Merzlikins will be unavailable for a fifth consecutive game due to his upper-body injury. Jet Greaves has been dominant in Merzlikins' absence, and he'll likely get the starting nod against the Islanders at home.
